I also have some exciting news! We had so many kids audition and it made the decision process very difficult. This is such a wonderful show for kids, which makes it frustrating that there are so few parts for that age group. Therefore, we’re doing something a little different. We’ve decided to cast understudies for the VonTrapp Children roles.

You seven kids will follow the same rehearsal schedule as the original VonTrapp children. Being an understudy does not guarantee that you will be onstage as a VonTrapp child during the performance, you will however be included as a guest for the party scene.

Thank you all for auditioning. As we said, the choices were very difficult; we heard many great singers and saw some wonderful performances.

For those of you that made the cast, please check our website again Monday for a message from your director Lydia. If you have a named character please contact Aaron Knudsvig as soon as possible to arrange a time to pick up your script.

1. If the time of day is an issue, come at the other time (i.e., not available in the morning for the adult auditions, come in the afternoon).

2. If you aren’t available in either the morning or the afternoon on the day of the auditions you can make a video of you singing a song (it can be a cappella) and email it to: aknudsvig@playinconline.org. In you email please also include:

High School and younger auditions should arrive close to 1:00 and plan to stay until about 3:00. The amount of time needed will vary depending on how many students show up. For appropriate ages look below.
What–Everybody auditioning should prepare about 32 measures (or one verse) of a song. It can be from the show although it does not have to be. The director may ask you to sing something additional from the show or possibly do some readings from the script. These do not need to be prepared.

We are thrilled to be able to announce our first truly offseason family production, and we think it’s one everybody is going to love. This February 10, 11, and 12, the hills will be alive once again with THE SOUND OF MUSIC. The Rodgers and Hammerstein classic musical that asks “How do you solve a problem like Maria?” and then shows how Maria handles all the real problems around her. You won’t want to miss being a part of it whether that’s in the audience, onstage, or behind the scenes.

Lydia Orvis, a 2006 Braham High School graduate and 2010 Bethel graduate (with a degree in theatre) will be making her Play Inc directing debute in the very show she starred in in the cities last summer. We are pleased to have her continue as part of the Play Inc team. Lydia has also directed two summers of the Little League Players–the elementary aged program offered in the summer. Joining Lydia on the directing team will be music director Aaron Knudsvig. Aaron has directed/music directed/choreographed many productions in the twelve years he’s been in Cambridge and is excited to turn over some of the directing reigns to Lydia.

Auditions will be held on December 17th. For more information about times of the auditions, the location, and the rehearsal schedule check back right after Thanksgiving weekend.
